About Crema Method

One person, a lot of manufacturer documentation, and a refusal to claim we tested anything.

What this site is for

Crema Method exists to answer one question properly: what do you actually need to make espresso at home for the first time, and what does it cost? Not the enthusiast answer, not the answer that assumes you already know what a portafilter is, and not the answer that starts by telling you real espresso begins at $700.

Every page is written for someone buying their first setup. Terms get defined in the sentence they appear in. Nothing here suggests there is a floor you have to reach before you are allowed to enjoy this.

Who writes it

Scooter M. — I’m an enthusiast who’s genuinely into this. I read the manuals, compile the published specs, and do the math. No lab coat, no test kitchen, and no pretending I’ve owned forty espresso machines. What I can do is check the real price today, cite where a number came from, and tell you which parts of the setup you can skip.

What we will not claim

It is worth stating this in a list, because the list is what makes it checkable rather than a sentiment.

  • We have not tested any of the equipment on this site. Not for a week, not for a month, not at all.
  • We do not own the products we recommend, and no page will imply that we do.
  • Nobody here holds a barista certification, a coffee-industry credential or any qualification relevant to espresso, and no page will suggest otherwise.
  • There is no editorial team, no expert panel and no reviewer network. There is one person.
  • We have no customer reviews and no testimonials, because we have no customers. You will not find a testimonials section on this site, and if you ever do, it is a mistake worth emailing us about.

What we do have

The competitive position is straightforward: their experience claims are not checkable and ours are. What we publish instead of a test lab:

  • Compiled specification tables, assembled from manufacturer documentation with every figure linked to the page it came from.
  • Cost-to-run arithmetic built from a government electricity statistic and a manufacturer-stated dose, with every formula shown so you can substitute your own numbers. That page exists because nobody else publishes it.
  • Price verification with a visible date, and a hard rule that a price older than 48 hours disappears rather than being shown stale.
  • A “skip it if” verdict on every single product, which costs us commission and is the clearest evidence that commission does not set the order.

The full method, including how picks are ordered and how often things are refreshed, is on how we pick.

The site as it stands

72 content pages across seven hubs — machines, grinders, the starter kit, milk, upkeep, beans and a set of plain-language guides. Everything is reachable within two clicks of the homepage, and the full index is here.

Who owns it

Crema Method is owned and operated by Slate Mill Group. It is an independent publication with no relationship to any manufacturer or retailer beyond the affiliate programs described in the disclosure.

There is no founding story here and no “since 20XX”, because the site is new and inventing a history would be the first dishonest thing on it.
